First Look: "The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince)"

Movie buffs all over the world went gaga today twice over. First, the Screen Actors Guild announced their highly anticipated 2014 nominations with a surprise nod to Jennifer Aniston ("Cake") and Naomi Watts ("St. Vincent"). Another reason was the release of the French trailer for one of the potential global hits of 2015, the film adaptation of the classic children's book "The Little Prince."

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's "The Little Prince" is one of the most beloved books of all time having sold over 140 million and translated into various languages all over the world. There has been an opera and a ballet adaptation made.

The trailer was released without much fanfare today (which i thought was oddly brilliant) and started surfacing in various timelines on Facebook and many tweets and Google+ notifications.

A look at the trailer, which was directed by Mark Osborne ("Kung Fu Hustle") suggests a promising film. It has the polished look of a Pixar film and a storytelling that appears whimsical and fantastical. The race for next year's animated film Oscar could be over already!

Le Petit Prince will be released on October 7th, 2015 in France and in the US around Thanksgiving, presumably.

Watch the gorgeous trailer below.
