I saw last night this outstanding 2013 HK drama about a socialite and her driver and the unlikely friendship they share as they try to navigate the challenges in their respective lives. The film deftly examines the controversial one child policy in China and its impact to the poor working class in contrast to the seemingly vulgar lifestyle of the rich set of the more affluent HK society... The movie opens with a wide shot of the HK-Shenzhen border suggesting perhaps the wide divide between the two cities but ends with a more hopeful shot of lush greeneries in a road in the middle of nowhere --- why hopeful? You'll have to watch it to know why...
