THE MIDNIGHT SWIM
US Premiere (Breakthrough Category)

Screening dates:
Friday November 7 - 7:00PM Chinese Theater 5
Saturday November 8 - 1:00PM Chinese Theater 5

Synopsis:
When their mother goes missing in Spirit Lake, three half-sisters travel home to settle her affairs. The youngest sister, June (Lindsay Burge), a documentary filmmaker, captures their bittersweet homecoming. But when the sisters jokingly summon a local ghost, their relationship begins to unravel and they find themselves drawn deeper and deeper into the true mystery of the lake.

Transporting its audience to a place drenched in the supernatural, THE MIDNIGHT SWIM is an eerie, atmospheric exploration of the inexplicable pull towards the unknown. In her first feature, Sarah Adina Smith has created a world that is reminiscent of PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK, subverting the obvious genre tropes in favor of a touching tale of three women struggling to say goodbye.

THE MIDNIGHT SWIM stars Lindsay Burdge (A TEACHER), Jennifer Lafleur (DO-DECA PENTATHALON), Aleksa Palladino (“Boardwalk Empire”), Ross Partridge (BAGHEAD, THE OFF HOURS), Beth Grant (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, THE ARTIST), Michelle Hutchison (FARGO, THIN ICE), and Shirley Venard (THE CURE).

THE MIDNIGHT SWIM is directed and written by Sarah Adina Smith. Producers are Mary Pat Bentel and Jonako Donley, with Executive Producers Jennifer Wilson, Samuel T. Bauer, and Steve Pearson. Director of Photography is Shaheen Seth and soundscape is by Ellen Reid.
